A Flatter World
A Game by wentbinary and Hidden Bea(s)t
[DESCRIPTION]
Crashed in a weird planet, way out of shape and laws, where one side is bright, dry and extremely hot and the other, dark, humid and really cold, you must survive while finding parts to fix your ship and leave.
A Flatter World is a small 2D adventure "strategish" game made as the entry for the Beginners Circle Jam #3, where the objective is to fix the spaceship that you crash landed onto a weird flat planet while you manage your survival resources. There is a small sun and moon orbiting this planet on opposite sides, and when it gets too hot you can... Go to the opposite side of the planet to cool down a bit, where there are also things lurking in the dark...
It probably has some rookie mistakes but we would like to polish it further with all your feedback and make it into quite the entertaining small HTML game.
[INSTRUCTIONS]
The game can be played with the mouse or the keyboard, there is a tutorial, enabled by default when you play. It can be disabled at any time on the main menu.
For the keyboard:

* 1 = Toggle Flashlight
* 2 = Drink Water
* 3 = Eat Fruit

I honestly love this! The only thing that I wish to change is for the overheating/freezing warning to come a biiit earlier than two steps before you die haha, cause I feel like there is no chance to explore anywhere in the middle of the moon side!
Also, love that even the ship calls us a fool XD
A really nice alpha, I love the pallete, art, and music.
Good to read that! Thank you very much!
One of my favourites of the jam so far. A nice, simple balancing mechanic that adds constant tension. I really like the light and dark side of the planet mechanic.
I think it would be nice to better be able to see or understand the aliens' movements, but I really like the ominous tone that they just get you. Also, the perhaps some of the tutorial tips could be cycled in game as it is quite a lot to remember on the first few plays and I JUST WANA play all the games.
Great work and thanks for sharing
Wow, I'm so happy to read that. I think I can talk for us two. Thank you very much for your feedback and it's really nice to know you liked it that much!
Yes, a nice suggestion. We want to keep improving it.
Thank you very much! :D
The art, music and sounds are awesome!
The main idea of the game is simple, collect parts to fix the ship (even though the problem on the initial scene indicated No Fuel).
It is really fun to play, you have to manage basically 2 bars (temperature and dehydration), the energy bar i didn't use for anything.
I barely can reach the other side of the planet without dying from dehydration or for the temperature. Sometimes I die without noticing what killed me.
But I couldn't stop playing, I have to finish it!
And Finally I did it! So rewarding!
ahahah your comment is amazing!
Well, that is something we didn't think about.. Maybe we have to add the fuel too. Another thing to collect.
Yeah, the light is not very useful yet but expect it to have some effect on the aliens behavior in the future.
I feel you, it's not very easy but I think the difficulty is challeging enough but not so that it gets frustrating, we hope!
Good to hear the last part!
Congrats! Ahah
I thank you for the feedback!
I played it again, after you fixed some details.
It got easier now that you added that visual feedback on the bars and the sound.
Nicely done!
Another improvement, wd be to randomly place the ship parts and resources! Now that I already knew where everything was, it was really easy to finish again!
Let's go mate! :D
Aiming for the top :)
