Demonarium - Big update to 2.9b Alpha


Between changing jobs and some work, I completed some updates every few weeks, but never seeing it as enough to upload, or do to lack of motivation, I left it out until the latest big changes…

So here we are, a couple of months later, with an update that is more of a bundle of updates from 2.6 to 2.9 plus an hotfix that I had to do yesterday, hence the b after the 2.9.

The changelog is big because of all the changes, but they are split between all the included updates, so bear with me.

Here is the TL;DR version:

  • A lot of bug fixes
  • Changes in the HUD and some menus’ looks and feedback
  • Changed some guns to file like single action weapons
  • Fully reworked the devour/skills system
  • Fully reworked corruption and HP
  • Added armor system to HP (based on items that add non regenerative HP)
  • Added bosses (only 1 boss, but the magic is there)
  • Added stats to characters
  • Added all LESSER and COMMON rank consumables
  • Added all POWERUPs

Update changes - 2.9b Alpha hotfix

  • Fixed invincible undead enemies
  • Fixed cursor missing bolt action animations
  • Fixed name changes from crashing the tutorial
  • Fixed breaking the game when exiting the tutorial earlier

Update changes - 2.9 Alpha

  • Fixed acid pools from damaging enemies too fast
  • Changed guns page on the info screen to match the look of the other pages
  • Changed the Old Pistol to be single action
  • Changed the Lever Rifle to actually be a lever action gun
  • Changed and reworked all of the consumable items
  • Changed the sprites of all existing consumable items
  • Added the missing POWERUP items from breakable props
  • Added the missing LESSER rank consumable items
  • Added all COMMON rank consumable items
  • Added visual and sound effects to using items
  • Added a new armor system
  • Added gold HP to the HUD to represent armor points
  • Added an items page to the info screen

Update changes - 2.8 Alpha

  • Fixed player skill roots from not snaring enemies
  • Fixed bullets from not being removed on room change
  • Fixed bullets being ignored when they hit with very small intervals
  • Changed and optimized the damage handling system
  • Changed and overhauled the skill system
  • Changed most of the effects from the devour skills on all demons
  • Changed the skills window GUI look
  • Changed AI to handle gun reloading
  • Changed corruption system to range from 0% to 100%
  • Added a corruption cost to the use of the Blood Altar
  • Added corruption information to the stats window
  • Added a corruption bar to the HUD, below the HP
  • Added visual and audio effects to the corruption level on the character and HUD
  • Added the demon transformation system on death by corruption
  • Added the Fomori enemy which spawns on runs after a death by corruption
  • Added the partial recovery of skills when devouring a Fomori
  • Added bullet spread and reload speed penalties on low accuracy
  • Added sanity ghosts and hallucinations on low sanity
  • Added odds impact of low fortuity

Update changes - 2.7 Alpha

  • Fixed Fungi Warrior spores from dealing no damage to the player
  • Fixed Fungi from not firing spores on player entering room
  • Fixed and changed GUI horizontal divider look
  • Changed info screen’s GUI look to resemble a scroll
  • Changed info screen’s navigation keys to use direct selection with the inventory keys
  • Changed the devour system to consume 1 of 5 stats, instead of blood points
  • Changed the devour system to grant blood points on devouring
  • Changed HP system to be a continuous value and bar in the HUD
  • Changed the blood chalice look on the HUD
  • Added option to skip devour cost when blood chalice is full
  • Added 5 stats to characters (only vitality and agility are fully implemented yet)
  • Added a stats page to the info screen
  • Added the Blood Altar to gate rooms
  • Removed the Bonfire from gate rooms
  • Removed the Master Clock skill from the player

Update changes - 2.6 Alpha

  • Fixed some vector math un/pairing functions
  • Fixed broken tutorial after multiple changes
  • Changed gate objects look from doors to holes in the middle of the room
  • Changed HP look on HUD
  • Changed the weapon holster look on the HUD
  • Added damage and heal feedback to the HUD
  • Added bleeding effect and heavier camera shakes to player getting damage
  • Added jumping animations to the next level gates
  • Added light visual to the initial rooms of next levels
  • Added the special last level logic for the stage bosses
  • Added boss logic and the first boss to the end of Stage 1
  • Added boss music and the presentation title
  • Removed enemy spawns on gate rooms
